Meet Tom Callahan

Tom has lived in Milton for 31 years with his wife, Eileen. They raised two daughters here who went to Tucker, Pierce and Milton High School. Tom has represented Precincts 2 and 4 as a town meeting member for the last twenty-six years and currently serves as the chair of the Community Preservation Committee and a member of our Affordable Housing Trust.

Additionally, Tom served as a trustee of The Appraisal Foundation Board of Trustees from 2010-2015 and is now a representative to the Foundation's Council to Advance Residential Equity (CARE). The Foundation is congressionally authorized to enact standards and qualifications for real property appraisers in the United States, and CARE provides input to its boards through a fair housing, consumer advocacy and civil rights lens.

Vision for our Board of Assessors

Total Transparency

Taxpayers should be clear on how to file abatements and requests for deferrals. I will be an advocate for our seniors and work to maximize the number of residents taking advantage of our programs.

Improved Communication

Improving our technology and strengthening our communications with other town departments, state

Department of Revenue and our residents will be a top priority.

Fair and Equitable Assessments

Guaranteeing that every assessment is based on objective, neighborhood-specific data to ensure a fair application of the tax code for all, including our large multi-family residential buildings now coming online.
